A&P Mechanic

Crosswinds Aviation is an FAA Part 61 & 141 flight school seeking an experienced, full-time 1st Shift A&P Mechanic to support maintenance operations at our Willow Run (YIP) maintenance base.

We are looking for a motivated self-starter responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on our fleet of training aircraft while helping us continue to build a full-service, multi-location maintenance department.

This position’s primary base will be Willow Run (YIP), with occasional support at our PTK and OZW facilities as operationally required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform line and base maintenance on flight school aircraft
  • Inspect, service, repair, and return aircraft to service in accordance with all applicable airworthiness requirements
  • Research and interpret FAA regulations, manufacturer maintenance manuals, Service Bulletins, and Airworthiness Directives
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair airframe, powerplant, and basic electrical discrepancies
  • Submit parts and tooling requests as required
  • Properly complete all maintenance documentation in accordance with FAA and company procedures
  • Support daily maintenance scheduling and on-call items as assigned
  • Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure fleet readiness and dispatch reliability
  • Serve as a mentor and promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous learning

Minimum Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Minimum 2–3 years of general aviation maintenance experience 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule when operationally required (holidays, weekends, occasional nights)
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to pass DOT drug screening if requested
  • Must have tool box, and minimum tool list required for role. 
  • Must be able to excel in a dynamic, fast paced environment. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Piper multi-engine maintenance experience highly preferred, including Piper Seminole, Seneca, or other Piper twin aircraft
  • Experience supporting flight school or high-utilization training fleets
  • Experience working on Diamond, Cessna, and single-engine Piper aircraft
  • 3-6 Years Experience Highly preferred. 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on fleet dispatch reliability
